Turkish state and its gangs cut down many of olive trees which belong to Afrin locals and take some of them to Turkey by uprooting the trees.
The Turkish-backed al-Hamzat mercenary group has cut down 900 olive trees in Mabata district of Afrin. The olive trees belonging to two local residents named Mihemed Şêx Hemûd and Ehmed Kêfo were then taken away.
According to the available data, while there are 18 million olive trees in Afrin, hundreds of thousands of trees were cut off or burned down after the occupation of the region by the Turkish state. The remaining ones were seized by the invaders, and the olive tree owners who could produce were held to ransom.
Based on uncertain data, it is estimated that the occupying Turkish state have so far cut down 280 thousand trees some of which were uprooted and smuggled to Turkey.
