In Ain Issa in northern Syria, the harvest cannot be stored due to the destruction of the grain depots by Turkish attacks. This poses serious problems for the supply of the region.
The first harvest in Northern Syria is about to begin. However, due to the attacks of the Turkish army and its mercenaries of the "Syrian National Army" (SNA) on the self-governing territory, no solution has yet been found to store the grain.
The existing silos were destroyed or damaged by the Turkish army and its allies. The large silo facilities in Girê Spî, Shergirak, Dehlîz and al-Sheikrat are under control of the occupation forces and have been looted by them. Normally the farmers sell their harvest to traders or the local administration. The traders have stated that they can only buy small quantities this year because there is no storage capacity. The local administration has not yet found a solution to the problem.
The villages around Ain Issa produce about 100 tons of wheat per week. So far there is no place that could absorb this quantity. Thus, both the harvest and the food supply of the region are directly threatened by the Turkish invasion policy.
