Turkey carries out yet another air strike on civilians at Tishrin Dam

Turkish warplanes once again attacked the people holding vigil at the Tishrin Dam. It is reported that the bombardment resulted in injuries.

Turkish warplanes once again attacked civilians holding vigil at the Tishrin Dam in North-East Syria. According to Hawar News Agency (ANHA), the attack resulted in injuries.

Earlier today, people from Kobanê set out to take over the vigil at Tishrin from civilians from Tabqa, Raqqa and Deir ez-Zor.

Background

Toward the end of 2024, the Turkish state and its affiliated Syrian National Army (SNA) proxies launched a large-scale offensive to seize Tishrin Dam, employing advanced military technology. In response, fighters from the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the Women's Protection Units (YPJ) have been putting up unprecedented resistance at Tishrin Dam for over two months, defending both the people and the land of North and East Syria.

The local population has also mobilized to support the resistance, standing alongside the fighters. For the past 20 days, people from all over Northern and Eastern Syria have been traveling in convoys to Tishrin Dam, to show their solidarity with the fighters defending their homeland.

Since 8 January, people have been going in convoys to the Tishrin Dam to take shifts and stand guard. Despite the ongoing Turkish bombardment, which has so far resulted in 23 people killed and 220 wounded, the people's resistance continues.
