Turkish attack in Kobanê leaves over 200,000 people without water

The Euphrates Canton Water Department announced that more than 200 thousand people would be left without water as a result of last night's attack by the Turkish state on a drinking water station in Kobanê.

The occupying Turkish state launched an airstrike on the water station in the village of Şiyûxa Jorîn, which supplies drinking water to the city of Kobanê and its countryside. The station went completely out of service after the attack last night.

In a press statement regarding the attack, the Euphrates Canton Water Department said on Monday that the occupying Turkish state intensified its attacks and committed massacres against the civilian population in the region. The statement pointed out that the purpose of the targeted attacks against infrastructure resources was to put the people in a difficult situation and break their resistance.

As a result of the aerial attack on the station which supplies drinking water and went out of service completely, more than 200 thousand people will be left without water, said the statement, underlining that, “These practices by the occupying Turkish state constitute war crimes.”

The Euphrates Canton Water Department called on human rights organizations and the United Nations to fulfill their duties and take a stand against the attacks by the Turkish state.
