Villagers of Girê Spî: We rather die in our homes than leave

The villagers of Girê Spî, under the attacks of the invading Turkish state, said that they were attacked in order for them to leave their villages, but they preferred to die in their homes.

The invading Turkish state and its mercenaries continue their attacks on the villages south of Girê Spî. The Turkish state, which targets civilian settlements in particular, is bombarding the area with heavy weapons, targeting the villages of Erîda, Qiz Elî, Kor Hesen, Evdiko and Kopirlik. Dozens of houses, gardens and land were damaged. The Turkish state wants to expand its occupied area by evacuating the villages through these attacks.

Pointing out that their villages are bombed every day, the villagers of Bîr Zinar in Girê Spî said that they knew the purpose of the Turkish state and preferred to die in their homes instead of leaving. One of the villagers, Xelîl Derwêş, said: “We cannot stay in our homes because of the attacks of the Turkish state. Attacking innocent people and killing children is not something that belongs to the concept of humanity. Every time there is an attack, we don't know what it would target. Animals, land, houses. Erdogan's aim is to scare us out of our lands, but we are not afraid of him. They are just invaders. Supposedly, Russia would come here to ensure the ceasefire, but it is watching the attacks. Russia only watches over the M4 road between Ain Issa and Til Temir. Other than that, it hasn't done anything. Every day, the Turkish state and its mercenaries violate the agreement, but Russia is just watching.”

We lost everything in these attacks

Yadê Selvi, who stated that her house was completely destroyed, shared the following: “Due to the attacks of the Turkish state and its mercenaries, my house was destroyed. I have no land left. If necessary, I will die inside my destroyed house, but I won't go anywhere. Where can I go anyway? Do we have a place to go now?”

Fatma Zinar also stated that they are attacked from the east every day and said: “Our children died. Our houses and land are plundered. All of our animals are gone, we have nothing left. Erdogan occupied Girê Spî, Serêkaniyê and Afrin. He is still not satisfied, he continues his invasion and attacks.”
