In a written statement, the DGRM said that Fincancı's arrest after her comment that the Turkish army may have used chemical weapons in South Kurdistan caused worry and anger. DGRM emphasized that Fincancı's remarks were within the confines of the basic principles of forensic medicine and freedom of expression.
“In this context, we demand the immediate release of Professor Şebnem Korur Fincancı and a comprehensive independent investigation into the possible violation of the ban on chemical weapons,” DGRM said.
