Camp for displaced persons from Idlib built in Manbij

The construction of a camp in Manbij, Northern Syria, for IDPs from Idlib is completed. 25 families have already been accommodated in the camp and another 275 are expected in the next few days.

Camp Jadidat al-Huner, built by the Civil Council of Manbij in the southeast of the North Syrian city for displaced persons from Idlib, has been completed. 25 families have already moved in, and another 275 are to be accommodated in the camp in the coming days.

The camp is located in the village of the same name, Jadidat al-Huner, 26 kilometres from Manbij, on an area of around ten hectares.

So far more than 1,500 families have fled to the autonomous region of North and East Syria from the war in Idlib. Despite their own limited possibilities, the autonomous administration has accommodated them in camps and takes care of the basic supply of food and health care.

In total, more than one million people have left the north-western Syrian province of Idlib since December. Around 80 percent of the refugees are women and children. According to estimates, around three million people live in the region. This is the largest displacement of people and one of the biggest humanitarian crises since the beginning of the conflict in Syria in 2011.
