YPJ calls on the UN to act: "Turkey seeks to avenge and revive ISIS"

YPJ calls upon the United Nations Security Council to bring the crimes of Turkey and its mercenary allies to their agenda and to adopt a concrete stand to stop them.

The Women’s Defense Units (YPJ) General Command released a statement on the latest wave of Turkish attacks against North-East Syria after Turkey’s announcement of an imminent operation against the region.

The statement by YPJ General Command includes the following:

“The Rojava Revolution, which was realized under the leadership of the YPJ, with the toil of the people’s regions and the blood of dozens of internationalists, has always been a target of the occupying Turkish state. That fascist mindset has laid bare its aggressiveness by providing finance and support to DAESH (ISIS) mercenaries and targeting the prominent figures of the Rojava Revolution in occupation attacks. Through these attacks, the fascist Turkish state desires to avenge and revive ISIS.

The whole world knows that DAESH mercenaries were defeated under the leadership of the YPJ, and the Rojava Revolution grew even more with this victory.

The occupying Turkish state has been committing crimes in the occupied territories in Rojava and North-East Syria since 2016, including harassment, rape, abduction, spiritual and material damage, demographic change, assimilation, smuggling and pillaging historical places and nature.

The occupying Turkish state and its mercenary allies are perpetrating all these acts and attacks in front of the eyes of the whole world. No institutions and organizations have adopted a stance against these violent attacks so far.

APPEAL TO THE UN SECURITY COUNCIL

On this basis, we call on our people and pro-democracy institutions and organizations to bring an action against the genocidal Turkish state and allied mercenaries. We also call upon the United Nations Security Council to bring the crimes of Turkey and its mercenary allies to their agenda and to adopt a concrete stand to stop them. Similarly, we call on all lawyers to reclaim this case and advocate it.”
