SDF General Commander Mazloum Abdi announced that the Kurdish National Unity Conference in Rojava will take place on April 26.
The commander-in-chief of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), Mazloum Abdi, has announced on his X account that the long-awaited “Conference on the Kurdish National Attitude in Rojava” will take place on April 26.
In his statement on Tuesday, Abdi emphasized the central importance of national unity among Kurds in Rojava. “The unity of the Kurds is a national necessity for resolving the challenges facing the Kurdish people in Syria,” said the SDF General Commander.
“This conference should be an important step toward developing a unified national attitude for the Kurds in Rojava and laying the foundation for joint political strategies,” Abdi continued. He expressed his hope that all political and social actors would fulfill their responsibilities and actively participate in the process. At the same time, he thanked all those who contributed to the preparation and implementation of the conference and wished the project “every success.”
The conference is part of a broader initiative to strengthen political unity among Kurdish forces in Syria. For years, various parties, particularly within the Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (DAANES), have been pointing to the need for a common Kurdish strategy and cooperation, especially in light of the political uncertainty in Syria, regional tensions, and ongoing external threats.
It has not yet been publicly confirmed whether representatives of all relevant Kurdish parties will participate in the conference. However, observers see the meeting as a crucial opportunity to overcome internal Kurdish differences and move closer to the goal of a common Kurdish position.
