The 25 November Women's Platform organized a march from the Süreyya Opera House in Kadıköy to Kalkedon Square on Saturday with the slogan "We are on the streets against male violence."
25 November call
Speaking after the march, Nazlı Andan said that on 25 November, International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, "we will be in the streets for İkbal, for Ayşenur, for Rojin, for each other, against violence, femicides, and the violence that surrounds women. We are taking to the streets with anger against darkness.”
Andan added: “Our struggle for a non-violent, equal and free life is becoming more urgent and needed every passing day. Violence prevention mechanisms are not being implemented, Law No. 6284 is not being implemented, the duration of precautionary measures is being kept short, women’s complaints are being ignored by saying there is no room for prosecution, and sentences in femicide cases are being overturned by the Supreme Court.”
‘Let’s meet at Tünel Square on 25 November’
Andan called on everyone to “shout our anger, our longing for an equal, free, war-free and violence-free life together with women all around the world. Let’s meet at Tünel Square on 25 November.”
