The General Council of the Women's United Revolutionary Movement (KBDH) released a statement on the muder of 8-year-old Narin Güran, whose dead body was found 19 days after her disappearance in a village of Amed (Diyarbakır). The girl, who lived in the rural village of Tavşantepe (Çullî) of Bağlar district, had been reported missing since 21 August. Her body was found 19 days later in a sack in a stream. 21 people, including family members of Narin, were taken into custody in connection with the investigation into the murder.
“During the AKP-MHP rule, the problems for working women and children are getting worse day by day. At the same time, during the AKP-MHP rule, poverty, oppression, exploitation, unemployment, rape and massacres against women and children have reached a statistic that exceeds all times,” said the KBDH statement on Thursday, which further includes the following:
“Finally, 8-year-old Narin Güran was murdered in the Bağlar district of Amed with the cooperation of the family, the state and the contra. This child murder has once again exposed the AKP-MHP government, which is rotting in every aspect. The dirty relations of the family and those living in the village with the AKP, all fascist bourgeois parties and the government have prevented the murderer of Narin Güran from being revealed for days.
AKP Diyarbakır MP Garip Ensarioğlu's remark that ‘There are things that we sometimes know and sometimes we should not say. Because the family is our friends’ is a confession that they want to cover the murder. It is also an announcement that Narin's murderers are protected by the state. Narin’s death is one of the consequences of the sexist, misogynist policies of the male-bourgeois state. The uncle Salim Güran, who was arrested in connection with the murder and whom Ensarioğlu called ‘our friend’, has a record for trafficking arms and women's bodies.
Although the state tried to cover up the murder by imposing a publication ban and a confidentiality order - which was a one-sided ban on the progressive, free and progressive press - the social pressure ensured that Narin's body was found 19 days later.
Under patriarchal capitalism, the family exists to control the woman's body, her sexuality and, increasingly, her entire identity. Women and children are just a property to the family. The father, the head of the family, controls the labour and even the lives of women and children. Narin was murdered precisely by her family, which is the mirror of this sanctified rotten male-dominated bourgeois system. As the smallest organisation of the state, this murder was committed by the family and Narin was taken away from life.
The AKP-MHP fascism withdrew from the Istanbul Convention, which legally protects women and children, on the grounds that ‘it is not suitable for the Turkish family structure’, leading to an increase in rape and murder against women and children in the country. Every day, women are imprisoned in the family, in the home, in the walls of domestic violence under the name of family strengthening policies. Women and children are murdered by the men closest to them, within the family. The government's prioritised attacks on the gains of the women's liberation struggle and its misogynist policies are the political form of patriarchy. The protection of murderers is a political example of patriarchy.
The AKP-MHP government is a state structure that organises itself with occupying war policies. In order to feed the war policies of the AKP-MHP fascism, HÜDA-PAR cooperates with gang groups such as the FSA and Kurdish bourgeois parties such as the KDP, which betray the Kurdish people. The FSA gang group, with which the AKP-MHP fascism is in cooperation, kidnaps, sells, rapes and tortures women and children in the Afrin canton, which is the first female representation of Rojava and has been under occupation since 2018.
HÜDA-PAR is the continuation of Hezbollah, which mobilised in Kurdistan with the support of the state in the 1990s. HÜDA-PAR, which is currently being strengthened with the support of the state, seems to have had a hand in the murder of Narin Güran. It came out that the uncle Salim Güran, who was arrested as a murder suspect, was a member of HÜDA-PAR. After İpek Er and Gülistan Doku, who were murdered by special war policies, Narin is also a victim of these special war policies. As long as the male-dominated fascist system continues, it will not be the last.
The AKP-MHP fascism will not benefit the peoples, women and children. Fascism feeds on the blood of peoples, women, children and the oppressed. The way to drown fascism in the blood it sheds is through the united revolutionary struggle. Strengthening the women's liberation struggle, which is a pillar of the united revolutionary struggle, is the strengthening of the barricades and the struggle against fascism. Patriarchal exploitation is the common, primary form of oppression of women. As misogynist policies become more widespread, patriarchal oppression, exploitation and forms of supression diversify. The way women can repel these attacks is through organised struggle.
The KBDH will respond to all forms of violence against women and children with revolutionary violence. KBDH guerrillas and militias will point their barrels at the patriarchy and the male state in order to hold those responsible for the murders of Uğur Kaymaz, Ceylan Önkol, Leyla Aydemir and Narin Güran to account.
All institutions, organisations and representatives of the government will be held to account for the massacres so that no more Narins are murdered, no more Gülistans are lost. It was the pressure exerted by women's organisations and all opposition groups on the government that enabled Narin to be found. By organising the same pressure more strongly, the aim should be to overthrow the government by using revolutionary means of violence.
The Women's United Revolutionary Movement is the organisation of revolutionary violence against male state violence. We will make the wedding dress they draped on Narin's coffin the shroud of the murderers of women and children.”
