• Berkin Elvan remembered on the ninth anniversary of his death 

  Berkin Elvan is the youngest victim of the Gezi uprising of 2013. He was 14 when he was seriously injured by a gas cartridge fired by police on the fringes of the protests and spent 269 days in a coma before he died nine years ago today.
• AFAD says death toll from earthquakes rose to 47,975 

  The death toll from the earthquakes that struck northern Kurdistan and southern Turkey on 6 February has risen to 47,975, according to official data. The victims include 6,278 foreigners.

• Sweden presents draft for "tougher terror laws” 

  Just in time for the resumption of NATO talks with Turkey, Sweden has presented a proposal for tougher terror laws. The parliament must now vote on the law. The changes are to come into force on 1 June.
